Langford 36 SBA 12
The SBA boys opened the season with a 36-12 loss at Langford on Friday night, August 24. Penalties and a bobble on a punt hurt the Crusaders in the first half. In the second half Langford scored on the opening kickoff and off a turnover. Thereafter, SBA dominated play and scored twice in the fourth quarter. Though too little too late for this particular game, the guys demonstrated they could move the ball, rushing for 228 yards and out-gaining Langford in total offense 253-229. Tayte Clark rushed for 173 yards on 30 carries and scored both touchdowns. DJ Beckwith led the defense with 13 tackles and a recovered fumble. Drew Planteen led the Lions with 146 yards rushing on 18 carries and three touchdowns. SBA next plays Lower Brule at home on Friday, August 31. Game time is 2:00.
