All in all we were a bit sluggish in the game, though the guys didn't give up and hung in well late to give us a chance to come back. We have a lot of work ahead of us for next week's game against second ranked Hitchcock-Tulare.

SBA 40 Lower Brule 0

SBA came away with a 40-0 win at Lower Brule on Friday, September 3. After stopping Lower Brule on their first possession and forcing a punt, we turned it back over on a third down run. SBA's first touchdown came in the first quarter after recovering a fumble we finished off a drive with a Cole McClain touchdown run of 6 yards. Laramie Strand ran for the conversion and an 8-0 lead. We scored three times in the second quarter on a 53 yard run by Laramie Strand, a LeRoy Evans 22 yard pass reception, and a 15 yard run by D.J. Beckwith as time expired in the half. Cole McClain had a conversion run after Evans' touchdown, so we were up 28-0 at half. Laramie Strand scored twice in the second half with runs of 1 and 21 yards. The JV guys played out the last couple minutes of the third quarter and the entire fourth quarter. You will find the game stats here.

The week of practice was a bit rocky due to working in some guys that have not been getting a lot of repetitions at certain positions, and we were also missing Jake Moreland. The game was a bit of a reflection of that, with some mistakes. On the positive side, the offensive line got some good push and there were some great efforts on both sides of the ball. The defense forced six turnovers, which made a difference in the game. The JV guys did a great job in holding the Lower Brule offense scoreless, making a big stand at the end of the game. It was a great way to cap off the day, which also happened to be Mr. Pedersen's 50th birthday; happy birthday Mr. P!

I will post some video when it is ready to go; it might be Monday. Have a great Labor Day weekend and do not forget to thank our Savior for His goodness and grace to us.
